Sam, the Cheerful Liar, the Healdsburg Tribune Columnist, early 1900's Writing on bottoms of shoes reads: "Tribune $2.00 per year in advance, Sam; Space to let." He wrote articles for the Healdsburg Tribune and kept his last name a secret at the turn of the twentieth century. His real name was Frank Madeira.
