Women's Improvement Club, removal of buildings in preparation of shopping center on Center St., March 1956 Newspaper article affixed to rear of photo: Demolishing: These two photographs were taken one week apart. The top photo [88.1962.1] shows the Women's Improvement Club, Center Street, as work was started to demolish the building and the lower photo [this one] shows how much has been done during the week from Tuesday, March 6 to Tuesday, March 13. The Women's Improvement Club and the American Legion Hall are being removed from the Center Street property formerly owned by the city to make room for a shopping center. Destruction of the Legion Hall will start shortly after April 1." |
