Typing Envelopes for American Cancer Society Fund Drive, 1956 Per newspaper clipping affixed to back of photo: "Aid Cancer Drive: "Members of Mrs. Jessie Larsen's typing class at the Healdsburg Senior High School who assisted in the annual American Cancer Society fund drive by typing the envelopes for the direct mail solicitation. The appeal of funds during the month of April is part of a nationwide campaign to help fight cancer. Funds are needed so that the American Cancer Society can carry on its important work to control cancer through a comprehensive program of education, services and research. The American Cancer Society urges you to fight cancer with a checkup and a check. Because cancer will strike one in four Americans and in two of every three families, the disease calls for thoughtful action from everyone. A check-up will help protect you and yours. By joining the American Cancer Society you help protect your community, and take a personal part in the crusade against cancer. Local organizations wishing to procure educational films about cancer may receive information on material available by making a local telephone call to 954. Your contribution may be sent to Elmer Sandborn, American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 577, Healdsburg.
