Healdsburg Garden Club entry at Cloverdale Citrus Fair, 1960 Similar to 2009.30.1024. Per newspaper clipping affixed to back of photo .1024: "Mrs. A. B. Nalley, president of the Healdsburg Garden Club, stands by the Garden Club's first prize winning display at the Cloverdale Citrus Fair, judged last Friday night. For the first time at the Citrus Fair there were floral displays by garden clubs, nurseries and the Orchid Society. The theme of the Healdsburg Garden Club's display was Hawaiian. Roberts Nursery of Headlsburg, the Cloverdale Nursery and the Orchid Society were non-competitive and were awarded first place ribbons in the non-competitive category. Four garden clubs in all submitted displays. The Healdsburg Garden Club display was described by the judges as "very authentic". Mrs. William Stine and Mrs. Walter Hildebrand were co-chairmen of the garden club's display. They were assisted in addition to Mr. and Mrs. Nalley by Walter Hildebrand, William Stine, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bottini, Mrs. Ray Laughlin, Andree Nalley, and Mrs. Relzy Aiken, a former Garden Club president, who planned and did some of the painting of the Hawaiian scene. The display was made in the form of a hut of palm leaves with a backdrop painting of the ocean and palms. On Friday night members of the Club who staffed the booth wore Hawaiian costumes."
