Salvation Army donates playground equipment to Windsor Community Park, 1961 Per newspaper clipping affixed to back of photo: "A Gift from the Salvation Army. Because of the change of program at Lytton Home, the Salvation Army's Men's Social Service Center now, formerly a home for boys and girls, the Lytton Committee approved the donation of playground equipment located at Lytton Home to the Windsor Community Improvement Association Inc. sponsors of the Windsor Community Park, located on property owned by the Healdsburg High School district. Lt. James Parton, left, resident manager of Lytton Home, R. B. Stevens and R. R. Dennes, members of the Lytton Committee, on Saturday, formally presented the equipment to members of the Windsor Association. Accepting the gift from Lytton were, left to right, Eddie Coats, Mrs. Coats, Mrs. Larry Landrus, Mrs. Ethel Kerr Brooks, president of the Association and Mrs. Dorothy Rix, Association secretary. Funds for the original purchase of the playground equipment came from the Healdsburg Salvation Army Service Extension Committee. Equipment which is being donated includes a merry-go-round, (shown above), swing sets, parallel and horizontal bars, ladder, plus others. The Windsor Committee will move the equipment and erect it at the Windsor site. A baseball diamond and picnic tables are already part of the Windsor playground."
