Description |
Basalt Rock Co., December 1965 Newspaper article affixed to rear: "Skyline Operation - This is what happens when the river starts rising every fall. Basalt's trucks take to the horizon. On the crown of the tremendous stockpile of gravel along the river is a power shovel. Here, hour after hour, trucks transfer the inventory accumulated during the summer, to the processing plant to the north where sand, dirt, and gravel are separated. For the stranger passing by, it might seem a bit awkward for a power shovel and huge diesel trucks to be moving around on the top of the sand pile. But it makes sense, and it keeps the company in a position of being able to operate through the wet days when the river runs high." |
