American War Mothers plant trees in memory of men and women of Armed Forces, 1961 Per newspaper clippings affixed to back of photo: "War Mothers Memory Tree: A Flowering Mulberry Tree was planted and dedicated as a memorial to those men and women who served in the armed forces by the Healdsburg Chapter, American War Mothers Sunday afternoon at Recreation Park. The tree was planted in the children's playground. Taking part in the ceremonies were, front row, left, Mrs. Marvina Hughes, State Memory Tree and Memorial Chairman; Mrs. Lennie Henry, president of the local chapter; back row, left to right, Mrs. Beulah Pierce; Waldo Iverson, city superintendent; Mrs. Flossie Murphy; Mrs. C. H. Cade; Mrs. Mary Saini; Mrs. Florence Mallon; Mrs. Lyle Still; Mrs. Rose Nelson and Rev. Floyd Raley, Trinity Baptist Church." Published in Healdsburg Tribune, July 13, 1961 |
