Old Engine, Locomotive 2248 visits Healdsburg, November 1955 See 2006-01-432 for newspaper article on this locomotive.: Per newspaper article affixed to rear of that photo: "A Short Revival - Locomotive 2248, which sports a "diamond stacked" look since its remodeling, will play a leading role in the Willis A. Silverthorn "special" which will carry members of the Pacific Coast Chapter of the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society Sunday, November 20. The train will travel between Tiburon and Healdsburg in honor of Silverthorn's retirement as an engineer with Northwestern Pacific, Southern Pacific subsidiary. Silverthorn, who will man the throttle of the old engine, will be honored at ceremonies in Fulton during the return trip from Tiburon to Healdsburg. (Southern Pacific Photo)" |
