Description |
Richard Sonoma Beedle of Occidental operating his Donkey Engine in the upper Joy Woods near Occidental in 1942. His brother Carl Beedle was choker setter and signaled by use of a long wire on the donkey engine whistle. The Beedle family were teamsters and later bought a truck but mostly hauled wood products when yarding logs to the landing. "Dick" Beedle would sing a little ditty "You come to me or I'll come to you" and sometimes the Donkey Engine when overloaded would move towards the load. He later logged in the Lagunitas area of Marin County with this donkey. |
