Weather Instrument Recovered by Krecks, 1962 Per newspaper clipping on back of photo: "Weather Instrument Recovered: Charles Kreck, right, Mill Creek, and his sons, Bob (left) and Bill (not shown) recovered the weather information equipment which was see floating down over the Mill Creek area on Wednesday afternoon. The equipment was carried aloft by a large weather balloon from Chico and was found by the Krecks on late Sunday afternoon in a canyon in the Medicine Mountain area. After four expeditions looking for the equipment the Krecks came upon it about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. It was lodged in a Madrone patch and it took a lot of work to haul the equipment back to the Kreck home. On Monday Kreck called the Chico Air Force station to advise them of the find. A note had been attached to the equipment advising the finder to call Chico, collect if found in California or Bedford, Massachusetts, if found outside California. The instruments were carefully packaged in styrofoam and cardboard boxes. In the foreground is the parachute which had been seen by many residents in this area."
