Description |
Mr. and Mrs. Walter McPherson, "Hushtone Radio Hospital'" January 29, 1953 In related photo found in Tribune on this date [this photo not found], is the following article: Mrs. Nercilla Harlan [shown in photo], Administrator of the Healdsburg General Hospital, demonstrates how the Hushtone radio phones operate at the Hospital. Each bed in the hospital is equipped with the radio phones which were pruchased from funds sent by the First Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, Healdsburg's Adopted Battalion, to the citizens of Healdsburg. The radio phones replaced the old type of earphones. The main radio is kept in a laboratory room and is tuned in all day. Each patient can listen to the raio programs or not as he sees fit since the program can be turned off merely by turning the radio phones over or placing them under pillows. Mrs. Harlan was on her vacation when she was suddenly taken ill last Thursday. She is recuperating nicely. The patients because of the radio phones were able to listen on January 20 to the presidential inauguration ceremonies, a fact that was greatly appreciated Smith Robinson, chairman of the First Battalion Committee said." |
