Tree planting by the Healdsburg Garden Club, 1956 Per newspaper clipping affixed to back of photo: "Tree Planting: Members of the Healdsburg Garden Club and school personnel watch as Richard Cadd, Fitch Mtn. Elementary School custodian, plants one of the Liquidambar trees at the school. The 30 trees planted along the front and side of the new Fitch Mtn. Elementary School, along with nine juniper shrubs, were donated to the school by the Healdsburg Garden Club. Part of the cost of the trees and shrubs came from the $100 legacy left to the Garden Club by Mrs. Mattye Casper Rosenberg, with the club donating the remainder of the cost. Taking part in the ceremony, left to right, are Byron Gibbs, Healdsburg Union Elementary School district superintendent, Mrs. Harold Hoskins, president of the Garden Club, Mrs. J. A. McMinn, chairman of the Garden Club memorial committee, and Mrs. Margaret Kosta, Fitch Mtn. Elementary School principal." Published in Healdsburg Tribune, May 10, 1956 |
