"Russian River supplies raw materials for huge Basalt Plant operations here", August 1965 Newspaper article affixed to rear of photo: "Loading Freight Cars - railroad cars are piled high with rock and gravel on the siding at the Basalt plant here, ready for shipment throughout California. In earlier days as many as 50 rail cars per day were shipped from the plant, but since the great increase in trucking service, the number of cars has dwindled to about 15 each day at present." |
