Canoeists at Memorial Beach, September 1964 Per newspaper article found in 9-17-1964 edition of Tribune: "Canoers, Man Your Boats - That's the order of "Black Jack" North (right) commodore of the Healdsburg Rotary Club's annual canoe trip slated for next Tuesday, Sept. 22. With him in the canoe are Rotary president, John Uboldi [center] and Don Harper, slated for 10th year on the trip. Approximately 50 canoes are expected to participate in the run from Eastside Road down the Russian River to Guerneville. The hardy ones will meet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Healdsburg Memorial Beach for roll call and assignment to canoes. A catering lunch will be served at Wohler Bridge at noon." |
