Benefit for Guide Dogs for the Blind, 1953 Per newspaper clipping affixed to back of photo: "Report Tea: Mrs. R. B. Stevens, seated second from left, Healdsburg chairman of Guide Dogs for the Blind annual campaign. was present at a recent report tea held for committee members of Sonoma County at the Sonoma Ranch home of Mrs. Dewey Donnell, advisory board member for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Also attending from Healdsburg were Mrs. Walter Wright, Jr., Mrs. George Warfield, Mrs. William Ault, Mrs. Phil Nell, and Mrs. J. G. Benoist. Although the quota for the county has not yet been reached, Mrs. Rutherford Putnam, Sonoma County membership chairman, stated that indications are that Sonoma County will equal last year's quota. Seated, left to right, are Mrs. Nathan Thompson, Petaluma Captain, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Dewey Donnell, Harrison Alper, a recent graduate of the Guide Dogs for the Blind School with his Guide Dog, Nanka. Standing, in the usual order, are James Crase, Sonoma County Treasurer for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and William Johns, director of the training school."
